From the Webmaster

My name is Richard Gallacher and I am the Chapter Webmaster. My job is to maintain this website for the Chapter Members. I aim to provide a simple website that will be very accessible and updated frequently, thus ensuring that everyone can be kept informed about what's happening in the chapter. Any suggestions or comments about the website are welcome, but please note that I am self-taught and there are lots of things that I can't do - another reason for keeping it simple! Also, please let me know if you spot anything wrong - spelling, links that don't work, etc. I am a retired firefighter and can usually respond to emails, update the site, etc within a day or so unless I am away on holiday. I am also a fully qualified CBT and DAS motorcycle instructor and work part-time for Pro-Scot. I ride bikes 12 months of the year in all weathers and probably spend more hours on a bike than just about anyone else in the chapter.

All members are encouraged to submit articles large or small, event reports, a day out, biker jokes, etc which I will try and publish on this website. Articles are easiest for me as Word documents. I no longer accept photos for this site apart from the following.

When submitting photos for 'Me and my Bike' please edit them down to a size of around 100KB or so. Also please give them a unique number, e.g. if your name is John Smith and you've sent in a photo taken at Thunder in the Glens 2008 you might name it jstg081, and so on. I can also put a handful of photos in the 'Back of the Garage' page if you think they are interesting, a maximum of five please. Why not write a few lines about them too. Here is a free programme that will reduce pictures and it’s very easy to use. http://www.fotosizer.com/ If you have a lot of photos that you think are interesting upload them here http://www.scottishhd.com/photoplog/index.php?c=1

Any get-togethers, ride-outs, or any other events that are worthwhile can be promoted on the Events page (at short notice if necessary). So it's worth checking frequently if you're looking for something to do. Let me know of any events that you are planning, no matter where you are in the world, and I'll put them on the site to help get a good turn out, but please check with the Events guy first so he can coordinate things. Any items for sale or wanted can be placed in the Back of the Garage page along with the rest of the odds and ends in there. If you use this facility please let me know when it's sold etc so I can remove the ad.

See you on the road
